Bubble Painting Activity

After naps this afternoon I knew I needed a craft that would allow me to be able to pick the house up AND get dinner ready. Huge ask, considering that most of the crafts we do involve more set up than actual entertainment. However, this one was a slam dunk and provided an hour of quiet, self directed entertainment!

Stage 1: Fascination with bubbles & colors

Stage 2: Throw her a fork and let her mix everything up

Stage 3: Pretending the mixture is {moldable} sand (it’s SUCH a great, moldable texture!)

Stage 4: Adding toys to the sand

Here are the things you will need:

  • glass dish
  • baking soda
  • vinegar
  • food coloring
  • medicine dropper
  • ice cube tray
  • small dish of water

Fill bottom of glass dish with a healthy amount of baking soda.

Fill a couple of ice cube trays with vinegar.

2 drops of food coloring per ice cube tray. Mix with small spoon or toothpick.

Use medicine dropper to squirt each color into the baking soda.

Use water to rinse medicine dropper after each color.

This was such a fun afternoon busy activity. My 2 year old had a great time naming the colors, playing in the ‘sand’ and of course watching the bubbles.

Have fun!
